Although, there is currently a lull in the attacks on Gaza, the crisis is far from over. For one thing, although Israel called a "unilateral ceasfire" on 17th January, it was not what most people understand by a ceasefire. So, six days afterwards, the Israeli Navy were reported to have shelled areas near the Egyptian border and the Al-Shati refugee camp (Menassat).
Also, Gaza has been devastated. Hamas have estimated that 20,000 houses will need to be rebuilt. There is an urgent need for aid so that people can start to recreate their shattered lives. Shamefully, the BBC refused to air an appeal from the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) because they feel it may damage their "impartiality" (BBC News). We have seen, of course, what BBC "impartiality" amounts to: a tacit support of the Israeli line
